Some of the Best Movies of 2009

With the Oscars coming up, everyone is heading to the movie theater, the video rental store, or requesting Netflix, in an attempt to experience the most critically acclaimed films of the past year. Instead of putting your name on the waiting list at Blockbuster, along with the rest of the neighborhood, why not make the switch to satellite TV? Most satellite TV packages offer many movie viewing opportunities, meaning that you never have to leave the comforts of your own home to get up to date with the hottest new movies and know what's going on at the Oscars. If you haven't seen any of the nominated films, and only have time for a few, here are my recommendations (in no particular order). Recomended for you:  Marry me Streaming Ita Uncharted Streaming Ita Diabolik Streaming Ita Ghiaccio Streaming Ita Avatar (James Cameron and Jon Landau) - Avatar has captured the attention of the entire world. As someone who isn't much of a fan of science fiction movies, I didn't have m

Twitter Takes Down Misinformation Campaign Around Reproductive Health In Kenya Twitter has removed more than 240 accounts, after the discovery of a coordinated campaign aiming to spread misinformation around women's health and reproductive rights in Kenya. Mozilla Fellow Odanga Madung found evidence that a Spanish-based organization, CitizenGO, pushed 10 hashtags into Twitter’s trending section in Kenya, while the country's parliament debated the 2020 Reproductive Healthcare Bill and the 2021 Surrogacy Bill. The research reveals how a right-wing European organization used Twitter to insert disinformation and inflammatory rhetoric into an important and nuanced regional conversation, says Madung. The bills aimed to outlaw forced sterilizations; to m

Cracking The Code Of Developer Creativity

There are a lot of stereotypes about developers: We sleep during the day, coding only by the light of the moon. We’re brilliant but anti-social technology geeks. We’re robot-like code drones, devoid of creativity. While I concede there may be a kernel of truth to the first two, I take serious umbrage with the third. Coding is creating—and developers are, at their core, amazingly creative problem solvers. That is, we can be amazingly creative problem solvers under the right circumstances. Unfortunately, there are times when the very nature of what we do gets in the way. For example, we’re often called upon to deliver the same routine functionality—say, an information intake form—for use in different applications. This is a necessary element of what we do, but think of it like this: If you were a writer, would you want to write the same story over and over again? Probably not. Because where’s the creativity in that? It’s the same for us developers: Coding the same basic components keeps

How the International Film Festival this year’s 2022 Oscars

The International Film Festival is long past and folks are now looking forward to this year’s Academy Awards. And you can almost be certain last month’s festival will have an impact on the upcoming Oscars. Marry Me - Sposami 2022 , as it’s also known, hasn’t been around all that long. While the Venice Film Festival has been a thing since 1932 and is the oldest and among the three most prestigious in the world – the Cannes Film Festival and Berlin International Film Festival being the other two – the Toronto International Film Festival didn’t start carrying the aforementioned title until 1994. Brought into play by Dusty Cohl, Bill Marshall, and Henk Van Der Kolk, with the trio introducing the Toronto Festival of Festivals in 1976, it was meant to give the films selected as the best at other festivals more exposure. Of course, there’s a lot more to be gleaned from a live film festival than one presented virtually. The live ones in Cannes and Telluride from last year proved that; filmgoer

A year 2022 of movie theaters went largely dark from Covid, and studios grappled with a complete stoppage of distribution Platform. Lionsgate vets Mike Polydoros and Will Preuss decided to open the doors to PaperAirplane, a first-of-its kind marketing agency which is liaison between movie theaters, studios and theatrical media ad agencies, creating and fostering in-theater promotions. Who was instrumental in delivering the in-theater marketing success of numerous blockbusters, including The Hunger Games franchise, Knives Out, and La La Land, saw the need for a one-stop solution between cinemas and studios for in-theater marketing. That efficiency is achieved via PaperAirplane’s Hanger, a centralized hub of proprietary digital movie marketing assets which studios upload to, and movie theaters download from, i.e. DCP trailers, social media videos and graphics, custom and exclusive content, web banners, GIFs, digital one sheets, etc. The decision to launch just as movie theaters were st
