Snyder Cut Darkseid Gets New DC

Ray Porter, who portrayed the villainous Darkseid in Zack Snyder's Justice League cut, joins the DC TV universe in the Naomi season 1 finale as another DC baddie. For almost a decade, The CW has been a platform for Warner Bros.'s DC properties, which resulted in the creation of the Arrowverse in 2012. Following Arrow's arrival, The CW has wasted no time bringing one DC TV show to life after another. For the 2021-2022 TV season, The CW decided to bring Naomi McDuffie to screens in her own standalone series from executive producer Ava DuVernay.

Despite not being rooted in the Arrowverse per se, Naomi is a heavy Multiverse-focused series, leaving the door open for crossovers down the line. Naomi season 1 follows the titular heroine discovering not only her superpowers, but also her true origin. For The CW, this was the first DC property to focus on a character that is a recent addition to the DC Universe, as Naomi McDuffie made her debut back in 2019. Similar to shows like Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman, Naomi season 1 had a 13-episode run, which came to a head as of this week. However, the Naomi season 1 finale came with a fun surprise, especially for those who are dedicated fans of Zack Snyder's Justice League.

Porter, who brought the iconic DC Comics villain Darkseid to life in Zack Snyder's Justice League, entered the DC TV realm through Naomi. Prior to the Naomi season 1 finale, Porter announced that he'd be making his debut in the DC drama as the comic book villain Brutus, who has been a big mystery throughout the season. Check out the clip released by Porter himself as he faces off with Kaci Walfall's Naomi. Throughout Naomi season 1, a mystery player named Brutus was targeting the teenager, trying to get her back to Earth-29 despite it not being his home universe. In the Naomi comics, Brutus, who debuted in Justice League vol 4, #59 in 2021, came from the same world as her. In the Naomi season 1 finale, Brutus and Naomi came face-to-face after he had tried to find her for years. The Snyder Cut's Darkseid actor appeared towards the latter half of the Naomi season finale, with his fate currently unknown. If Naomi is picked up for a season 2, its writers could certainly revisit Brutus.

Release and Streaming Play Set Firm Day Theatrical to Italy

A move that will transform Italy’s relationship with Netflix, the Italian government has set a firm three-month time window between a movie’s theatrical release and when it can drop on a streaming platform.
